📤 How to Submit Your Recertification Documents – City of West Miami

When a building in West Miami reaches its 40‑Year Recertification milestone, the owner must have the structure inspected and submit recertification reports to the City’s Building Department to confirm structural and electrical safety.

Reports must be prepared by a Florida licensed Professional Engineer or Architect and signed/sealed. There is currently no online portal listed for recertification report upload — submissions are delivered to the Building Department.

📌 Submission Steps

1

Hire a Licensed Professional

A Florida Registered Professional Engineer or Architect must inspect the building’s structure and electrical systems.

2

Prepare Inspection Reports

The engineer/architect prepares separate structural and electrical inspection reports. Each page must be signed and sealed.

3

Submit to Building Department

Deliver the complete recertification packet to the West Miami Building Department. Include a site plan or survey if more than one building is on the property.

4

Follow Up & Repairs

If deficiencies are identified, obtain permits and complete repairs before final approval. Follow instructions from the Building Department.

⚠️ Recertification reports must be submitted within 90 days of the notice date. Late submissions can result in code enforcement or fines.
